Malaysian hockey fans feel disappointed when Malaysia opportunity to steal one of the three slots to the 2014 World Cup semi-finals of the World Hockey League is closed. This defeat was the worst defeat if the compare-leg leg before as the team was beaten 6-0 by Germany.
If the performance
against Germany became the capital of Malaysia to the Asian Cup in Ipoh on 24
August, then the formula is to be expected. Malaysia has no choice but to be a
champion, that means, the squad coached by Paul Revington must beat several
Asian giants such as Pakistan and India to go to the World Cup in The Hague,
Netherlands next year.
Increasing pressure
felt by the Malaysian squad when Germany added a second goal in the eighth
minute through a penalty corner by Linus Butt, and two minutes later, his
teammate, Moritz Polk made it 3-0 through a field goal.
Germany continues to
leverage every opportunity to get a goal when successfully added three Zeller
scoring on 12 minutes, Moritz Furste (16) and Thilo Stralkowski (18). In the
second half Germany continued to add rows goals.
However, the German
effort to get a goal yet to no avail until the end of the match, as the defense
of the national team gaining control of the game back, but it was too late.
The last time the
national team played in the World Cup was in 2002 in Kuala Lumpur. The next
match, against Pakistan's national squad is scheduled to determine a better
position.
