Floyd Mayweather Jnr and Saul Alvarez clash for the WBC and WBA world light-middleweight titles at the MGM Grand Arena, Las Vegas on September 14 in a fight set to smash all revenue records. The 17,000 tickets priced from £1,350 down to £250 went on sale last week and in just 12 hours the sold-out notice was hoisted for a £13million live gateAlvarez is 13 years younger than Money Mayweather, with 42 wins and a draw on his record. Yet Floyd, coming off his masterclass victory over Roberto Guerrero a few weeks ago, is a firm 3-1 on favorite.

“Floyd is very shrewd for taking Alvarez now before he gets even better in say 18 months’ time.” Said by Ryan Rhodes, the former British and European champion who lost his title challenge to Alvarez two years ago.

There were 45 ring battles that earned the label during the 20th Century, now stand by for a contest between unbeaten champions that can genuinely be called the first fight of the 21st Century.
