London – The old partner Hsieh Su-wei and Peng Shuai won their first Grand Slam title at 7-6 (1) and defeated the Australian duo Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua 6-1 in the female’s double final at Wimbledon.

The old partner won their country a great reputation; Hsieh became the first player from Taiwan who won the Grand Slam title while Peng present the the first double title at a major in seven years to China.

The old partners are both 27-year-old, have played a few tournaments together as afterhours. They ended their partnership after turning a pro player. Hsieh and Peng became a competitor in the past seven years, until Hsieh asked Peng if she would be up for a renewed their partnership. The answer was yes, of course. Now, they are the new double title champion.

“It’s very special because I don’t think tennis is popular in Taiwan,” Hsieh mentioned in the interview. “We didn’t see many media during this tournament. We’re very proud we can win this tournament together with my good friend. It’s our first title, for Taiwan, so I think it’s big in Taiwan.”

“It’s probably the first time (two-handed players) win the singles and the doubles,” Peng said.
