Manager Brendan Rodgers has involved the youngster players like Raheem Sterling, Andre Wisdom and a number of academy graduates into first team last season; however Captain Steven Gerard says these young players cannot afford to live off their potential indefinitely.

“It’s a great experience to come down and play with the first team. When they come down permanently, they have sampled it and they know what they’re in for.”

Gerard also praised his manager for the eagerness he has shown to incorporate the young players into first-team football since he arrived from Swansea City a year ago.
Aside from involving youngsters from the academy, Rodger continue busy this season summer transfer to build up the team before the upcoming Premier League season starts in August 2013.
